Throughout 2010 Fläkt Woods has continued to demonstrate its commitment to personal development, with the extension of its UK training academy programme, aimed at designer level delegates from consultancies through to construction companies.

Helping to further advance employees’ capabilities and broaden their skills, the studies available cover a wide range of topics, across a variety of levels, from basic introductory subjects, through to more in-depth modules.

The one-day courses, which can qualify for approximately 4 hours towards a CPD, cover a variety of subjects, with contents tailored to the target audience. Typically subjects can include; Axial fan design and applications, car park ventilation by Jet Thrust system, understanding motor properties, fire smoke extraction, inverter speed control of axial fans and design limitations.

Attendees are also given the opportunity to try their hand at manual fan selection, visit the factory manufacturing area and see the research and development laboratory in action. To-date the courses have been very well received and members have described their experiences as; “brilliant”, “it was a really good day, most enjoyable and informative”, “staff very knowledgeable and eager to get their knowledge and experience across to all”, “thank you for an extremely educational and pleasant day of training”.

With a strong emphasis on training and development, and a commitment to structured skills enhancement, Fläkt Woods has seen a growing demand for its academy, so much so that the places are always oversubscribed, but the Company plans more courses for 2011 and the future of the academy looks set for even greater success.
